My Taper Approach

As the trials approach I find myself with more energy, more free time, and a restricted list of acceptable taper activities. Throughout the majority of the season I spend my days off trying to recover as quickly as possible to ready myself for the next week of work we have ahead. I make sure to do at least one enjoyable activity during these days off (golfing, going out to dinner with friends, going to a movie etc.).

With 3 weeks till our Trials and 2 months before the Olympics, I wake up every morning a little nervous to check my email and listen to my voicemail. The media has really started to pick up the Olympic Games and I find myself putting on a wireless mic about as much as a Speedo these days. It's all part of the process and you literally just have to go with the flow.
